How the Program Works

If you find courses in our Online Catalog that are of interest to you, either place your order through our secure online shopping cart or print an order form, fill it out and fax or mail it to us. We will send you the course package, which includes the tapes, DVD`s or CD`s and a multiple-choice test to be completed as you go through the course. For some courses, written course notes are also provided.

When you have completed the course, just return the course materials to us (unless you elect to purchase), along with the completed test. If you receive a passing grade on the test (70% or higher), we will send you a Certificate of Completion documenting your name, the title of the course completed, the date completed, the instructor`s name, and the number of PDH credits earned.

Each hour of tape instruction as listed in our online catalog equals one PDH. The length of each course is listed in hours (or PDHs), rounded to the nearest tenth of an hour.

If you have a group of engineers who wish to take the same course, the tapes can be used as a group, with each engineer completing a separate test for submittal to us.

All videotape courses are in standard VHS NTSC format.

Courses are copyright protected and cannot be copied.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RENTED COURSES

Courses may be rented by an individual or by a group (two or more people). The group rental rate indicated is the rental fee for each person in the group. If a course is to be rented by a group for PDH credit, each engineer in the group must be identified and pay the rental fee, however only one shipping charge is required per course. Each engineer taking the course will receive a course test, which must be completed and returned to Professional Development Options in order to receive a PDH certificate.

The rental period is one week for an individual or two weeks for a group (except for courses that are 12 hours or longer, for which the rental period is two weeks for an individual or three weeks for a group). The rental period starts on the date you receive the course and ends on the date you ship the course back (in other words, the rental period is the time the course is "in your hands"). If courses are returned late, a late fee will be assessed equal to the individual rental fee, prorated to a daily basis, unless prior arrangements have been made to keep the course longer.

To keep courses in circulation, we normally ship them one at a time. If this will not meet your needs, please call to make different arrangements.

Courses are shipped to you by UPS, and are to be returned to us by UPS, Airborne or Federal Express at your expense.

For residents of South Carolina, 7% sales tax is required.

The course of your choice may not be immediately available, depending upon demand. Please indicate the date when you would like to receive the course and we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule. If we cannot provide the course on the preferred date, we will contact you to discuss possible alternate dates. We encourage you to take courses as early in the renewal cycle as possible, when courses are more readily available.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR PURCHASED COURSES

The purchase price covers the tapes, DVD`s or CD`s, the course notes (if applicable), plus a test and PDH certificate for one engineer. Additional engineers employed by the same organization also wishing to take the course and receive a PDH certificate are required to pay a processing fee of $50.00 per engineer to cover the cost of the test and the certificate.

When you purchase a course, we assume that you would like a brand new original of the course rather than a copy that has been rented to others, so we order a new original from the producer of the course. Depending upon the specific producer, it may take 1 to 3 weeks for us to receive that new original, so please allow extra time for delivery of a purchased course. For residents of South Carolina, please add 7% sales tax on the purchase price, but not on the $50.00 processing fees.
